Conserve 30% of the land, the waters and the seas
Ensure and facilitate that, by 2030, at least 30% of the land areas, inland waters and coastal and marine, especially those of particular importance for biodiversity and the functions and ecosystem services, are conserved and managed effectively through systems of protected areas are ecologically representative, well-connected and governed fairly, and other conservation measures, effective area-based, recognizing the territories of indigenous and traditional where applicable, and integrating them into wider land-and seascapes, and in the ocean, at the same time ensuring that all use sustainable, when it is appropriate in these areas, is fully consistent with the results of conservation, recognizing and respecting the rights of indigenous peoples and local communities, even over their traditional territories.
